Happy Labor Day (Tomorrow)

Postby Jack fowler » Sun Sep 03, 2006 9:57 am

Happy Labor Day to all!!!

I don’t know if this is going to work, but I’m catching a wireless connection at a state park in Missouri.

Tomorrow, Labor Day is observed not only in the U.S. but also in Canada, and in other industrialized nations. While it is a general holiday in the United States, its roots in the working class remain clearer in European countries.

It has come to be recognized in the U.S. not only as a celebration of the working class, but even more so as the unofficial end of the summer season. In the northern half of the U.S. at least, the summer vacation season begins with Memorial Day and ends with Labor Day. :(

So, I’m taking a few days off and Trout fishing in a Missouri state park just out side of Lebanon, Missouri. What a place!!! The people are so friendly!!! I hear some of the best Barbecue in Missouri is here also…. and I’m going to find out. :{_}:

Everybody have a nice holiday!!!

Jack

Nothing like a holiday to generate business for the Fire Department.

When i see all those fishermen in the same place I am glad to have my own 3 1/2 acre pond.

That blue glob in the middle. We always catch fish and I think bull heads and bass taste better than trout.

Oh well you have to change the magnification to the 6th notch down and go to satalite to see it.

Y'all:

Have a great Labour Day Weekend. Not only is it a Labour holiday, but here to it marks the official end of summer and the return to school for the kids. Summer usually is preceded by Victoria Day on the 18th of May and ends with the Labour Day weekend in September..

Kind a neat way to do it.. and to be able to remember special holidays at the beginning and end to..

Hope you enjoy fishing. Tomorrow we are going to have a family day. All 7 of us are going to cut firewood and have a good family dinner to finish it off. Provided of course that Ernesto doesn't rain on our parade :!: :!:

Hi John,

Sorry I didn’t get back sooner, but this is the first time I had access to a P.C. since Monday. Ya, it’s Bennett Springs State Park. I guess you know the area. My family went back home last Monday and I stayed until today. I floated (Canoed) the Niangua River to Ha Ha Tonka and camped out every night along the way. I took some great pictures along the way; maybe someday I’ll post them. The Moon was full and it looked like it was setting on the river. What a time I had!!!! Tomorrow it’s back to “the pits”. Get up at 3 A.M. and I’m out of town for two weeks for work. :(

Some links if anyone is interested.

It has been several years since I was there, but during trout season the skunks used to come down out of the hills to get the entrails and heads left form cleaning the fish. they would come right through the camp gorunds. the campers would go inside and get quiet in a hurry.
