Phone Wire Cut In Half

Postby WKPoor » Mon Nov 13, 2006 6:08 pm

This weekend Earl mentioned the phone in his shop was out. While I was there he pulled a set off the wall and plugged it in on the pole outside and there was dial tone. Well I said, I'll send over My personal phone man ( my father- in - law) to check it out. Yesterday he was over and said, yep your line must be the problem going to the shop. Then Earl remembered unloding his crossbow last week into the ground near the shop. BINGO, that was it. Now what is the chance of that arrow fired at the ground hitting the phone line????????????????? :? :? :? Its probably never ever happened before. I told him to go play the lottery

 Reminds me of when I was a hungry kid back in the 40s in Montana. My brother had a toy bow & arrow set. We were walking through the barn one day and seen a pheasant roosting. Brother took aim with bow about the same time that pheasant got spooked. The pheasant took flight and he let the arrow go and it dropped that bird right out of the air. Now that also was just a plain lucky shot or someone up above knew we were a hungry bunch.
Then came Bronson

This is kind of backwards but when I was a kid I was shooting my 22 at old montgomery wards catolougs in the back yard one day it was neat becuase you could find the bullets inbetween the pages. But any way My lab walked right in front of the book when I pulled the trigger.
But Guess what it miss fired :) :D Some one was watching over that ol dog that day I tell you.

I'm a 30 year veteran of the phone wars,Illinois Bell,Ameritech,SBC now we are at&t, could have saved alot of time and money if they had just given us crossbows. You could run wires thru trees, drop ceilings and now I find out a locator as well! Our garage has the highest accident rate in the state, alot of 6 and less year employees, I can just see the safety meetings now.

Gary, My father in law carried a crossbow on his truck just for that purpose. Funny you mention it as I remember him telling my about a job one time in where he need to get a line across a ravine. He dreamed up the idea of shooting it acroos with a bow. It worked.
