I think I see the taper attachment anchor on the far right.

Sorry for my stupidity but what do you mean by a taper attachment?
This is my first lathe and have no real time running one as you can tell.
Also the missing gear looks like it is a two sizes in one. The bigger one in the back and the smaller one in the front due to the gears it will be driving being offset. Once I get the manual I will have a part number to track it down by.

The taper att. should be behind the crossfeed in back of the carriage. Need a top view to be sure. (unless it's different than the ones I'm used to). Also I would look for a Quick change tool post. Theyre not that expensive and a lot more versitle (sp) than the rocker type. Also a lot easier to set up. Nice set up. My $.02 Grump

here are a couple more pics of the lathe.
One of the gears missing (nevermind the green and yellow in the back)
One of the taper attachment not complete, this is the only part that I have of it. I have found a couple pics of one with it set up but what is the purpose of having one?
And the last one is an over view of the back side of the lathe.
Thanks Dave

Dave, First of all I don't think you will need the taper attatchment. It's kinda an advanced machinery thing. I spent 14 years as a machinest in the Navy and we rarely used it. You will do well just doing straight cuts and threading plus making bushings.. It looks like you need a double gear as you stated. not sure if this will be one peice or two separate gears. They will be splined either way so not to worry. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to insult your abilities but there are few things you will need to taper. A few pulleys require the taper but as a general rule we amature machinests won't be cutting them unless you plan on making your own morse collets or special attatchments.. The book on top of the lathe should tell you enough to get started. lots of good info on the web also. You have a gem there but take your time and do lots of homework and she can do about everything you need. Any help I can be for you, just yell on here or feel free to PM me Grump. (if ya don't like the lathe we can get the Cub Express headed my way.)

A good lathe is somthing I really want to get. When I was a kid my favrite machine was a amco brake lathe. I just love waching a drim or rotor bieng cleaned up. I am crazy but I have fun I would like to get a south bend lathe like we used to have at the shop. I did just spend just dollars short of 6,000 on a jig grinder I do not know what it does (I know Phil does) But it looks neat. It was my brothers money and for my brother but he said he will teach me how to do what ever it does.

The way that it is set up right now will work for me. The only thing that I will try and get right off is a QC tool holder. That would make things a lot easier. Then maybe a rest and a few other pieces.
Please don't think that you are insulting me, I am always open to what people have to say, that way I can learn from your thoughts. I had no idea what a taper attachment was so I was trying to find out if that would be something that I should have or not. As I can see right now the way that it is set up I will be fine. However should I spot a deal on one I will know what it is.
And the green really isn't a bad thing since that is what got me into the classic tractors .
Thanks Dave

Dave,
I found a lot of gears and other accessories on e-bay. But I think George W. said earlier, you can always find gears at Boston Gear. http://www.bostongear.com/ I also found gears for my lathe there.
Good Luck,
Brian

To get the "circular pitch" (distance from center to center of teeth measured on the pitch circle) .........
Divide the outside diameter by .3183 and the number of teeth plus 2 .....
P = ___D___
.3183 (N + 2)
