#$^%^@ Ford EscortMy daughter asked me to check her 94 Escort, one of the rear doors wouldn't open. I discovered the inside handle wouldn't wrk, but outside was ok. Figured the plastic clip that holds the latch rod into the handle was broken, which is a common problem. Pulled the handle, to find that was ok, but when I pulled the rod I could not feel any resistance so I figured it had come loose at the latch. Broke the plastic clip mentioed earlier removing the handle and door panel so I could see the latch. Rod is connected to the latch so I figured there was something wrong with the latch and would have to pull it. Went to the shed and got the needed tools and got my worn out old body down where I could get to the latch better. At that point I discovered it had a child safety lever that was flipped down and had disconnected the inside latch.

ROTFLMAO, Sorry, Not laughing at ya, but laughing with ya. I sure am glad to hear that I'm NOT the only one who have things like this happen. You sit back and think, now why didn't I think about this earlier. Just think John, could have been worst, you could have goton it all torn apart then discovered this. John Niekamp
The guys on therangerstation.com (Ford 4wd forum) got a big kick out of it too.

The best thing Henry did was put an oval around the problem and hightlight it in blue. Note that I restore Model T's, but the didn't come till the Model A. So I still have a quality built vehicle.

To add insult to injury, the same clip actually did break on the drivers door today. Interesting changing it holding a flashlight under my arm in 15 degree temperatures.
