We had a widower named Emmet with 2 sons , 10 year old Joey and 12 year old Timmy. Things were a little tough, but he got by. One day a lady not known for her generosity (skinflint) took him and the boys a pie. Emmet was surprised, but thanked her, and she went on. The following Sunday after church he went over and thanked her for the pie telling her they really appreciated it. She asked, so you really liked it? Little Timmy piped up and said yes'm, it was jus rite!! The lady walked away beaming. After she got out of sight Uncle Joe who had been standing near by asked little Timmy what he meant by jes rite, he had never heard a pie described that way before. Little Timmy looked up and innocently said "If it was any worse we couldn't have ett it, and if it were any worse better she wouldn't have brought it, so it was jes rite".

Understood it the first time.

Reminds me. When in highschool use to work summers on farms and other businesses. Dinner (now lunch) was provided. We had to eat everything on the table- all of it. Because, even if it was horrible, any left overs would be on the table the next day.
