We've got a 2010 and really like it. No problems, thus far. Bill "The probability of life originating from accident is comparable to the probability of the unabridged dictionary resulting from an explosion in a printing shop." Edwin Conklin, biologist

Re: Your experience with a Ford Escape ?We bought one in Feb of last year and have slightly over 12k on it. 4 cylinder auto with 4wd.get 27 mpg on the highway. Really like the traction control and stability system. The only problem we have had is that we live half mile down a dirt road and if you don't open the tailgate glass and clean around the edges every few weeks it will leak in the rain or when washing.

Re: Your experience with a Ford Escape ?We have had an '09 since Christmas '08, bought her new. Four cylinder, two wheel drive. We really like it. You have to wind it up pretty tight to get it up to speed quickly (after all it's a four cylinder) but once you're up to cruising speed it just hums right along and the mileage has been good-around 28-29mpg.

Re: Your experience with a Ford Escape ?My wife drives a 07 Escape. 4 cylinder, 2 wheel drive, around 28 mpg highway. Bought it in 08 with around 15,000 on it. It now has 95,000. The only thing that has happened is the paint is coming off the front plastic bumper. An easy fix just has not made it to the top of the list yet.

Re: Your experience with a Ford Escape ?Hey Jim,
I can't speak to the mechanics on the Ford Escape, (and I'm not a Ford fan anyway), but I can tell you these little things are build pretty tough from a crash safety standpoint. A few years ago I rear-ended a stopped Escape at 50 mph, and both drivers--me and the driver of the Escape--walked away without a scratch or a bruise. Even though both vehicles were totalled, (I was driving a 6-month old Toyota Matrix), and it was smashed in the front all the way to the fire wall. The Escape was crumpled in the back, but otherwise the driver's compartment was completely intact. For what it's worth.....see you soon!
