Something to look forward to as I get older.

This afternoon I was working in the yard over at the property we just bought when I was startled by a car that came crashing into the side yard near where I was clearing out some of the overgrown brush. I ran to help the elderly driver out and walked her over to the side porch to have a seat on the step. As we talked she mentioned that she will be 97 next month and is now old enough that she doesn’t need a drivers license anymore.

I asked what she meant by that and she said the last time she went to her doctor he examined her and asked if she had a drivers licence.

She said she told him she did and handed it to him. He took a pair of scissors out of his drawer, cut the licence into pieces and threw them in the waste basket.
She said he looked at her and said she wouldn’t be needing them anymore, so she thanked him and left !!.."

:o :o :o

My dad lived with us until he passed at 93. About six months before he died I came home and found him sitting in his car, which he hadn't driven in at least two years. Next to the driver's door was his walker. Somehow, he got himself in the car and drove down to our country store. When he came back he couldn't get close enough to his walker to get out. Thank God it was only 2 miles to the store. Keys were confiscated after that ordeal!
