IH dealers

Postby Boss Hog » Sun Nov 25, 2012 8:07 am

Just wanted to know if anyone know of any IH dealers that are still operating today under the Case/IH name or still selling new tractors
I have 2 here Spaulding Equipment Co, 1948 to present
And Taylor Forbes, I am not sure when they started but am finding out.
Thanks Boss

I have Stoller CIH here. I don't know when they started but I do know there were around when my Grandpa was in business in the 40's.

I also have Birkey's CIH that was first an International Truck dealer and the picked up IH and later CIH after McGraths IH here in town closed.

I don't know of any dates to be certain but I do know they have been around for some time.

Our local dealer is Fliegs Equipment. Not a real old dealer, been in business since the late 80s. They do provide some fantastic parts service though, and really go the extra mile to get you what you need. Dad had an account with them for the farm and when he died they just changed it over to my name. I live 50 miles from them, and most of the time I just call them and normally have it within a day or two. Of course they really like the fact that when I call I give them the part number so all they have to do is check to see if it is in stock, or has been changed to a different number.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Our local dealer is Hood Equipment, CO. They have been in business since maybe the late 40's or early 50's. I worked in the parts department there for two years.

These were IH dealers prior to the merger.

Mills International--Kinston, NC. I forget the original owners but they are in an IH prototype building. This is the dealer I use most of the time. They are excellent. Still sell Cub Cadet, I have been told they are the largest CC dealer on the east coast. http://www.millsinternationalinc.com/

Lilley International--Williamston, NC. They own a couple other stores where the owners sold out, etc. Original owner's nephew is a good friend of mine, president of our IH club chapter. http://www.lilleyinternational.com/default.htm

Clinton Truck & Tractor--Clinton, NC. Owner is a former IH blockman. Excellent dealer. My #2 choice after Mills, only because they are 2-3 miles closer than Clinton. http://www.clintontractor.com/

Clapp Bros.--Siler City, NC. There's an article about them, specifically one of their veteran parts men, in the September or October issue of Our State Magazine (Sort of a NC tourism kinda publication) http://www.clapptractor.com/index.php?content=new

That's all I can think of right now.

B & G Equipment in Greeley, Colorado is the Case/IH dealer closest to me. I rarely get anything from them as it's easier to buy from TM or others.

My uncle had the IH dealer here from the late 40's until the early 70's. John Shroeder bought it and it became a Case/IH dealer for awhile, but is currently selling Cub Cadets/Yanmar tractors. John began working for IH in 1939 until he went in the army for WWII. After the war he came back to IH and retired in the 70's as regional sales manager. John has been to a few of my earlier CubFests and has been a wealth of information about IH tractors, but his health has kept him away the last few years. His sons now run the dealership and I stop in now and then to talk.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I think that Waxahachie Equipment Company in Waxahachie, TX goes back to the IH days. There are a couple other dealers nearer to me but I am pretty sure neither of them go back that far.

In western NY, Lamb & Webster's original location in Springville goes back to 1960. I think LaPorte in Westfield goes back nearly as far.
