Farmall Cub

I was watching an episode of American Pickers, I kinda enjoy Mike and Frank's exploits pickin especially when I get to see some of the stuff I grew up with. Sure brings back a lot of memories. So this epeisode I think it was the second pick and first thing I saw was Farmall Red. Seems there was a Super A and a Super C along with what looked like an H or an M. As they were walking to the back what did I see? A 60's yellow and white Cub Lo-Boy Seems it pays to watch closely There were a few other brands like Ford, Cockshutt and I think an Oliver.

Pretty neat! When I watch the American Pickers, I try to look in the background for tractors and such too, but many times the camera swings around so fast, it's hard to get a good look.

Same here, watch American Pickers. In one episode the guys were walking on top of a bunch of tractors including a standard red Cub.

I would like the addresses of the places they visit. It is obvious they are now "picking" for the show, not for the great finds. They pass up and over so much stuff. They also don't like "tractor" stuff.

It would be nice just to follow behind them and pick what they have passed over.

Above story. Don't know if it's true or not. Do know that the two pickers couldn't make a living much less expenses for the items picked and "sold" on an episode.

Ghost Town Gold, another TV series, the pickers always seems to find some sort of fire arm hidden in old buildings. The condition of the found fire arms is unbelievable, almost new pristine condition, for being stached 80 or 100 years.

"Reality" shows are one of my biggest gripes. They aren't real!

I used to watch Pickers, when it first came out, but it got "long in the tooth" pretty quick. When I turn on The History Channel, I'm looking to watch history, but it seems Pickers Pawn Stars & American Restoration make up about half of their programming. None of those shows hold my interest anymore.

They were here in town a few months back, I got my picture taken with Mike. They really didn't pick that much stuff for being here all day. I saw a lot of neat things the man had and they picked non of them. I have asked the old timer if I could take a look and have not gotten a responce. I do know there are a lot of Cub Cadet parts and pieces in there. The man has buildings just full of stuff, literally several buildings. It will be a long auction when he passes on cause the kids want it all gone from what I've herd. I really like to watch them, it is neat to see what they come out with and the people they meet are rather interesting.

I certainly hope it is craftsmanship at the prices they charge. That's too much for lipstick.

It would be hard for me to believe that American Restoration was nothing but craftsmanship becuase of the stuff they show and the work involved.

I liked American Restoration till the "Honey Bee" episode. They hosed down an entire honeybee colony and destroyed it. They seem a little rough and casual on the teardowns, plus they don't always go back original. Some times that's ok, sometimes not.
The pickers have been to two places here Carolina that I have been to or by. One was the antique place on 24-27 in Oakboro. The other was across town, and I didn't even know that they were here! That guy had built a small town from slabwood. Church, bar, service station, and hotel, etc. We took a school group there in the 70's or early 80's. Not far from there was a man's home that he built to look like a castle. He made wooden lamp shades on a lathe, thin enough for light to shine through. Btw, I saw a cub wheel and right front axle in an early esisode.
Another treasure salvage/ hunter show makes you wonder. They dig up old rusty junk and try to sell it for much cash. Run by an ex football player?
Did anyone see the Pawn Stars with the Jonnypopper? They didn't buy it.
Most of these programs are "fluff", trying to appeal to people like us.

I don't watch reality shows but I did see the one where they were run off the property. Probably the closest to the truth the show has ever been. In my neck of the woods they probably wouldn't make it onto the property, much less the front door.

its obvious that pickers is all staged, but i still think its a good show. they always find the kind of stuff that i'm interested in. american restoration on the other handis a joke. the prices they get is so far off the wall its not even believable. some made a comment about lipstick on a pig, thats the best way to describe them.

I completely agree. The History Channel has definitely gone downhill. What ever became of "Wings"? I still like Modern Marvels, though....
