Always let this guy stay in front of you where you can watch him at all times.

I had just come safely to a dead stop in traffic due to solid ice on the Tri-State in Chicago.

I notice in my mirror a guy coming up fast in the center and left lanes trying to stop. First he was sideways, then backwards, sideways again, then completing the 360 degree spin, stopping next to me in the center lane like nothing ever happened.

I looked down and the guy was still holding his ceramic coffee cup in his right hand, almost full, probably didn't spill a drop. A true professional.

Another time I was stopped in a jam in Cleveland when a woman bumped the car in front of her while putting on her panty hose.

When it comes to bad drivers, don't let anything surprise you.
I hope the above picture was an abandoned vehicle although I have seen many people looking through peep holes of their vehicle's frost and snow covered windshields.

Hard to tell, but i believe there is a tow bar hooked to the front of that truck.

Not really, I actually saw much more crazy stuff driving local in the inner city during daylight hours. Just when you thought you had seen it all, a couple of weeks or months later, you see something that tops the last one.

When I used to drive a bus, I saw a man with the news paper on the steering wheel, morning drive time.

We have not had any snow yet.

I wonder where the pic was taken and if the original picture showed a tow vehicle? There is so much snow on that trucks windshield, I don't see any way there could be a driver in it.

Like Lazyuniondriver, after a career on the road, I have seen my share of unbelievable sights and feats of stupidity.

About 25 years ago I saw a guy with a bracket on his steering wheel that held a hardcover book. Phones are still the worst. Auto fatalities are down per mile but pedestrian and bicyclist fatalities are up. My neighbors and I lost 3 mailboxes to texting. I think that is a factor behind pedestrian and bicyclist stats.

Thinking back 50 years ago, I was living in a small rented house with no garage. Was in the volunteer fire department. Fire call with my 1955 Dodge truck covered in snow. No good choices available. So I did drive to the fire scene with head out the window. Not suggesting that anyone do so.

I can remember driving with my head out the window on several occasions when I owned a 66 Beetle. The defrosters hardly could ever keep up. (even with the boxes and tubes in good cond) Luckily I never had far to travel, and could get her inside to thaw out when really bad out. If It started out warm, then It would last alot longer. (heck of a good snow machine, though)

I've noticed most people can eat fast food relatively easily with one hand and women can apply make up and brush their hair one handed, but to eat a bowl of cereal with a spoon requires both hands and a knee on the wheel, and always in morning traffic.

You brought back a lost memory. When I lived in Pottersville, near West Plains, I had 2 separate routes I could take to work. The slightly longer one had better roads, and the advantage of a stoplight to make the left turn onto the buys West Plains bypass, and I preferred to go that way of a morning. the disadvantage to it was that at least once a week a woman in a white car would catch up with me and drive right on my bumper while taking out curlers, brushing hair, and putting on makeup. made me nervous enough that I started coming in about 10 minutes earlier to avoid her.

Whoever is driving that pickmeup would make me very nervous. I have been behind and in front of several of these yolkers over the years - doesn't matter where you are there are always a couple of em that you will run into. I don't know what makes em tick - all I know is that they are dangerous. They are usually the first one to blame someone else for the accident that they caused. When you live in the snow belt - you never know what you are going to see, every day is kind of interesting if your into cardiac mode
