windshield wipers.

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Sat Jan 04, 2014 1:30 pm

Driving through town today I noticed a compact van that a local pharmacy uses for deliveries in their parking lot and noticed the wipers sticking up in the air like this.

At first I thought someone walking through the lot had raised the blades as a prank, then I started thinking about our weather forecast. Rain, becoming freezing rain and sleet followed by 6 to 10 inches of snow, and I realized they had probably left the wiper blades that way to prevent them from becoming frozen to the windshield since that van will not be used till Monday morning. Might be a good idea for a vehicle that is left out overnight.

Many folks around here do that when their vehicle sits out with snow or freezing rain forecast.

Yep, a common sight around here too.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Did that all the time with my F150. The 2006 Silverado does not have that style arm, nor does our 2002 Astro.

Very common practice here.

Yep the guys at the firehouse do the same thing. If they don't stay up on their own they put something under the wipers to stay off the windshield.

Don,
My 2006 Silverado uses the 'J' Hook style wiper blade. I just changed mine - real easy.

The 2002 Astro is another story. Donna took it to AutoZone last winter to get new wiper blades and the guy broke the arm. Took 3 days to get the new arm and then they broke the clip holding the washer fluid hose to the arm. I said that's enough. Give me some new blades and I'll take care of it myself.
Same AutoZone, couple of years earlier - bought pads & rotors for the Astro. Got home, took everything apart, pulled the new rotors out of the box - wrong ones. Looked at the pads - twice as big as they were supposed to be. Turns out they gave me parts for a 2002 Silverado. :x

Needless to say - the Vernon, CT AutoZone is the last place on earth I will ever buy anything.

...anyway - Oh yeah, we were discussing wiper blades. :)
