Mike, I lived in New Orleans for 4 years, and one winter night when I was flying back in, the pilot announced over the PA that he was told the white stuff on the ground was something they called GRITS!!! This was in the early 70's and it had the entire city come to almost a complete stop with snow and ice. The few cabs that made it to the airport only went to TWO destinations downtown...that was it! I had my suitcase stolen while I looked for transportation! Not the most fun night!

Enjoy your warmth and see you in Sneads!!

Atmospheric punishment for misdeeds. Something similar to the company commander telling the troops; "You all are confined to quarters for the duration".

Current punishment, light to heavy blowing snow. 3 or more inches of snow on the ground. Visibility 150 yards or so. Temps dropping all day long. Probably confined to quarter for another 24 hours.

Snow is what makes you wish you lived farther south.

Hurricane is what makes you wish you lived farther north.

Mike, I'll bring you a can of instant snow. Just add water and freeze. :D

Yep! Put a snowplow on your truck and drive south. When somebody asks. What's that for? That's where you want to stay. But me I like the season change.

No problem. Come on up for a few days. SW MI. Bring your shovel. If you don't own one I have several. One by each door. You might want to consider a jacket. Predicted to get cool. We are still above zero (+1). When can we expect you? :bellylaugh: Vern

Mike, the last time you helped me unload gravel it was 100º and you complained about the heat. I'd much rather do it then than do it today at -2º.

Well thanks for all that info i like the ''GRITS''.
We did get a dusting a few years ago but they are few and far between. I looked for the picture of Gary Boutwell plowing snow in Hammond La. a few years ago but i can't seem to find it.
Oh and it was +17 Deg here this morning and that is SUPER COLD around here. And it was +31 in Anchorage Alaska

Here, it peaked out at 67 in Saturday then dropped to 31 by the time the sun came up on Sunday. By afternoon, it only got up to 37 and dropped down to 13 this morning. It was all the way up to 17 when I checked a little bit ago. If the 13 holds as an official reading, it will knock out the record low for the date by 1 degree. By Friday, things will be back to like last Saturday.
