Farmall Cub

I went to the neighbor’s farm to day to pick up 60 bales of hay. Next to the barn was a single tall green plant. The only green plant around was a 6 foot tall stalk of wild hemp.

I thought about cutting the hemp down, but then we are in the middle of a major drought and cash crops for the local farmers are going to be very short supply this year. Besides that it will be another month before it’s ready to harvest.

No hemp here, but weeds and brush are the only things growing. Heard on the news yesterday that our part of the state is 8 inches behind on rainfall for the month Of July.

I'm kind of surprised that no one has commented on the local cash crop, wild hemp - wild marijuana. In the 40's hemp was grown in Iowa to due to the shortage of rope during WWII. In the late 50's and early 60's the college kids would come out in the more rural areas and harvest the wild marijuana.

Afraid to mention it. Here in NY they try growing it in the middle of corn fields, clearings in the woods and such. Copters and planes are used to scout for it. Makes the county mounties and the smokies very touchy.

The hemp that was grown for fiber, and is now found wild has very little of the chemiclas that marijuana si fmaed for. It gives very little of a "buzz" or so I've been told.
