Oversized Load

Postby ricky racer » Sat May 09, 2015 6:29 pm

Earlier this week we shipped a machine built by the company that I work for on a truck that was 200 feet long and had 19 axles. The machine is a Linear Friction Welder built my Manufacturing Technology Inc. The Welder will weld jet engine components for Pratt Whitney that will be going into jet fighters. This is the largest linear friction welder in the world. We are currently building another for General Electric for their jet engine facility. Below is an article from the local news paper. Even though South Bend isn't still building Studebakers or Oliver Farm Equipment, manufacturing is still alive and cool stuff is still being built here.

Ricky,

Certainly quite an accomplishment.

That's really something. I had to watch a you tube on friction welding as I was unfamiliar with that process.
