Ground Hog prediction ?
Not complaining just throwing a thought out there. The ground hog does not see his shadow and predicts an early spring. Just how early is early ?
This picture was taken on 2/12/16. Snowing again today. Hopefully it will straighten out by early March. First tractor show of the year in my area, March 11 and 12, Cape Girardeau Mo.
At least I will get to push snow with the H.

Re: Ground Hog prediction ?
Well, if the groundhog sees his shadow we are supposed to have six more weeks of winter. If it doesn't see its shadow there will be an early spring. I do believe "early" means five weeks and six days.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Ground Hog prediction ?
Have crocus growing in the back yard. Thinking spring is just around the corner. Suppose to be in the 50's and 60's mid week.
So far it's been a mild winter in this part of Missouri. Only a couple of snows, each snow less than 2 inches.
Looking forward to the mild temperatures mid part of this week. Will be able to get to the shop to work on a couple of tractor projects.

Re: Ground Hog prediction ?
Punxsutawney Phil has accurately predicted the remaining amount of winter only 39% of the time. That's only slightly better than the National Weather Service's weather prediction accuracy rate.

Don, I didn't remember the percentage figure, but I knew old Phil was wrong more often than right. Not much trust in his prediction!

I have ground hogs digging under building foundations.Don McCombs wrote:On our farm, groundhogs don't last long enough to make predictions.
Suckers are wary. Have spotted them diving into holes when I drive onto the acreage. Have tried to wait them out for a shot with the scoped 22 rifle. They always wait me out, then I go home.

Whistle them up. They pop up to check on the sound. That's why some folks call them Whistle Pigs.
