Feeling old?

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Wed Apr 27, 2016 12:13 pm

In spite of health problems I was not feeling too old until Potosi had their 250th anniversary celebration about 3 years ago and I remembered I had marched in the high school band for the parade celebrating the 200th. To top it off, last week I received an invitation to my 50 year high school class reunion.

John,
But you can still remember the past, that's GOOD! When ya stop remembering.......that's when we start having problems.
Hope you have a great time at your reunion, I'll be having a 45th coming up.

What really makes you feel old, is remembering when John was a young man :||):

Some days I feel pretty good and not so old, other days pretty bad and really old.

Broke the side out of a tooth this afternoon eating a candy bar. A month ago broke the side out of another tooth. Must be my job to keep the dentist employed.

Most of my wife's and my social calendar is now made up of medical appointments. Good side is that we use the medical appointments to go big city shopping.

Bad part about being old is that the medical facilities now keep computerized records. Go in for a sprained toe and get scheduled for shots, colonoscopy, blood tests, urology, physical therapy, etc., etc..
I have an excuse. CRS.

I remember way back when John could both get into and out of my Chevy Cavalier by himself. ;)

I don't feel old in my head, the body is just wearing out. Last year was my 50th and I'm nearing 70. But old when you are around 40 is always 10 years out. At 68 it is only about 5 years out. Don't know if you ever catch "Old" but I'm getting closer.

Physical at the VA Out Patient Clinic today to check my blood pressure. Blood pressure is great. Wound up getting a blood test for HIV and and one for potassium.

Told the Doctor that I didn't have HIV and haven't for 72 years. Doctor said that if I didn't get the blood test he would keep pestering me until I did. I consented to the blood test. Nurse taking the blood said that blood test for HIV wasn't only for VA patients but is a recommendation for everyone.

And Doctor said he was going to schedule me for an ultrasound for an abdominal aneurysm at the VA Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Told Doctor that I would get the ultrasound locally. Asked why the ultrasound and was told that it's recommended for males who had smoked 100 cigarettes and between the age of 62 and 75.
I have an excuse. CRS.

My wife used to teach 3rd grade, and is now retired, but like many teachers she substitutes. A couple weeks ago she was teaching a grand child of one of her 3rd grade students.
