Doesn't look like they're using the tops for anything. Just discarding them between rows. Probably a bulb production operation.

When I was in my teens I worked for a local bulb grower. (Tulip and glads) Much, much smaller operation. Tulips were topped by hand and the tops discarded elsewhere in a big pile which after a few days did not smell like flowers. Cut flowers were sold first and at times the road was quite congested. What did not get sold was then topped. I have no idea why we didn't just drop the topped flowers. Farming of all kinds sure has changed in my lifetime. Vern

They didn't show the operator during that, I wonder if it has an auto-steer system. Only requiring operator to turn it around and start down the row.

Sure looked like an auto steer system to me. The driver was not holding the wheel and had multiple screens to monitor.

Agriculture is rapidly moving to autonomous tractors. Kinze has a John Deere tractor pulling one of their 1100 bushel grain carts, during harvest operations. No one is in the tractor cab, all functions controlled by computer/remote sensing. My understanding is that autonomous tractor and autonomous cars are sharing some technology that is useful in each other's operating environments.

GPS. Uncle, a John Deere man, farmer, has it on his tractors and harvest machines.
I have an excuse. CRS.
