Took a road Trip

Postby cub.bub » Thu Jun 23, 2016 10:21 am

Both my parents are now in a nursing home about 10 miles from my house which makes it nice for multiple visits through the week. The other day my Mom asked (in her Motherly way) if I would bring my tractors to the nursing home as they were having a fair like event, so I said sure. I thought I'd put my 55 Cub on the trailer and run it over, then I remembered a picture of my Dad on my 55 Allis Chalmers CA from years ago, thought it would be nice for Dad to brag....I mean talk about it with the others. Sooo I put the trailer on the CA after wiring the trailer lights to the tractor (added a flasher and mirror) and loaded up the Cub keeping in mind that the weather man was predicting major storms to hit the area, I put my wallet in a zip baggie and took along a cooler (no ice) just to keep things dry. I have a dummy (besides me) that I thought I'd take along to give the Elder s some laughs, I got a few laughs from some of the cars that passed too. Any way the weather held off and all had a good time, I think I had the best time seeing the smiles and answering questions. I took a few photos with my phone camera but took many more with our digital, I have to say I wanted to take more pics of the drive but was a little afraid I'd hit a bump and drop my phone.
Ya know I enjoyed the 10 mile trip so much I may make it a routine (on nice days) to visit on a tractor :tractor: .
loaded and ready for the trip, felt bad I didn't have a hat for my helper on back of trailer.
Dad waitng with his new best buddy Bob, an old farmer that hung by me for 3 hours
nice views along the way.

That was really nice of you. I'm sure your parents and the other residents appreciated it.
I have an excuse. CRS.

That's really cool Bruce! I'll bet the folks loved getting out and seeing the tractors. My dad is also in a nursing home and really gets board. It doesn't take much to break the monotony when your shut in day after day. That was a good thing you did. They're probably still talking that dummy with the tractors (the one on the trailer). I just thought I should clarify that....

Great looking pair of tractors too.
