Long Time Gone

Postby PVF1799 » Fri Mar 02, 2018 10:40 am

Hi All - Sure has been a long time since I've been able to check this forum let alone actually send something. Sure do miss ya'll. Rex'48 is sitting quietly waiting for spring which seems well off now with the foot of new snow today. Since I was hear last, I lost my dear sweet mother last April 12th just shy of her 94th birthday. She took a fall broke her leg and well she made it to rehab, but only for a day - before going back to the hospital where she passed a few days later.

She and my Dad would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary last June. Dad did pretty well over the summer as there was LOTS going on at the farm - with the new barn and wedding of my son Timothy to Amanda last October. He was still driving very locally at that point but just before Thanksgiving he developed CHF and because he will not go the hospital - he's on Home Hospice. Right now he's custodial care and my immediate family (Ken, Pat, Tim, Amanda and my two daughters) provide all his care. So Dad's vital signs remain stable but he's a hospital bed 24/7. Dad is now 98.5 years old. His short-term memory is totally shot - but he can tell me a story about the day the 1929 Regular came to the farm.

Oh forgot to mention I'm still working full-time after my summer off in 2016 during my severance period (layoff) with Pinnacle Foods. Got paid for 9 months to farm - it was awesome.

On a bright side - as I said Tim got married to a lovely young lady Amanda last October. In November our oldest Kristin got engaged to a great man Tucker. Their wedding is September 22nd of this year at the Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown, NY.

I work at MVP Health Care now as Manager of Training and Documentation. Gonna put a few more years in then ....... we'll see.

Will try to be more active here - because I owe many of you so much.
