Re: We Need a Little HelpWell I guess it is time for an update.
Abbigail was seen today by Dr. Giberson a Gastro-Enterologist (my own specialist and he is very very good so we are happy), and the preliminary diagnosis was confirmed. Abby suffers from laryngomalasia (sp?), which is a softening of the larnyx structure which allows the larnyx to collapse. This can cause the problems that Abby experienced. Children with this affliction usually outgrow the problem by adulthood when the larnyx actually hardens up. However, because this condition causes other problems, such as nutritional, dietary, esophageal, reflux, this can lead to a weakend immune system leaving the children very susceptible to opportunistic infections that create large problems. In many cases, the kids systems are so weak that they cannot successfully fight these types of infections and can lead to premature death. So this is a huge issue for us. To complicate it all, Abby is lactose intolerant, alergic to soy substitutes and may be susceptible to JD as well. Boy oh boy, this is difficult. Please would you keep Abby in your prayers as we await the Pediatricians treatment options. We are thankful that her Pediatrician also happens to be Amanda's allergy specialist and treated her for her presistent staff infections 2 years ago.. so we have a lot of trust in him. Abby is one of our Lord's little ones, and I know that He is watching over her, but prayers always help and we pray that you will continue to pray with us for a good outcome to this problem. Abby is really the apple of her grandparent's eye and we are so worried about her.. Thanks my friends, I truly appreciate all you do for our family Peace (+) Confusion breeds Discussion which breeds Knowledge which breeds Confidence which breeds Friendship

Re: We Need a Little HelpEven if I didn't have a young grand daughter of my own your petition would touch my heart. Abby is blessed to have God fearing family members that know the importance of a strong faith. It also sounds like she is receiving excellent medical attention.
Abby and your family will be in my prayers. Please keep us posted as you have time. Ron Ron

Re: We Need a Little HelpDear Rudi and family,
We are praying for you all down here in Georgia, and will continue to pray for strength, healing and good health. Your notes ring so familiar with me...and I understand how you feel. As a granddaddy, NOTHING else matters than the health and well-being of our little ones. Hang in there brother...God only lays down challenges for those strong enough to endure them, or for those he wants to be strong...even when it seems so unfair having to do so. But there is nothing fair about life, and these are the challenges we must face to one day enter the kingdom of the Lord. Know we are with you...peace. Re: We Need a Little HelpCharles:
Thanks so very much, it is appreciated. As you know now, sometimes kids get sent home until the next episode, so as with Carson, Abby has been sent home at least until her next checkup in about 2 weeks. She sees her regular pediatrician then, the on-call one was only for the hospital stay. So we will be watching her closely and trying to make sure that she does not get too vocal. Quiet is the buzz word I guess. We will be keeping our fingers crossed, but also remaining steadfast in prayer that Abby continues to remain stable. Thank you all my friends for the best wishes and prayers. They did wonders. Abby is such a happy little girl. She is 13 weeks today..
