Abbigail is Home Temporarily
Abby was released from hospital today. She is resting comfortably at the moment upstairs here with Memere and Pepere.. Mom and Dad need a break.... Here is the update as to what I understand.
1. She definitely has Laryngo Tracheal Malasia. Hopefully she will outgrow it in the near to very near future.. 6 months to 2 years if all goes well. Much longer if complications set in which is probable but not definite. No word yet on the EEG results. No word yet either on the possible Juvenile Diabetes tests.
2. She has pediatric GERD and is now on Pediatric doses of Prevacid, mixed in with her formula.
3. She is Lactose Intolerant, Alergic to Soy and other non dairy based forumula's such as Enfamil and Prosobee. She is now on a new product that is not even available OTC or via Prescription. It is funded entirely by our Medical System.. so it is really prohibitively expensive. It is non soy, non dairy and non a whole lot of other stuff.
4. She is feeding every 2 hours on 5 oz max of this new stuff. Will help with the GERD. She has been taken off of the Pablum experiment as babies under 6 months cannot be on it at all as it isn't sterilized. (somebody made a boo-boo).
5. She sees Dr. Giberson on Friday and we may know more about the scope and trip to the IWK and ther expanded prognosis and treatment plan.
Thank you for all of your prayers and wishes. It has helped to strengthen us as we walk down this path.. as is the Lord's intention. We humbly ask that you continue to pray for Abby as you can, and we will post when we know more.
Thanks again to all of you for helping us with our little angel (+) Peace to you all.

It seems like a long list of problems but at least you have answers and the doctors know how to treat them. Her being home is great news. Your family will be in our prayers.

I found this old Cub, Forgotten and Forlorn,
With pistons and valves frozen and worn.
Help from my buddies on Farmallcub.com,
And an engine from Ralph, (37’s the one),
Now ole Corky is running and back to life,
Much to the surprise of my dear, dear wife!

Re: Abbigail is Home Temporarily
All:
Thanks again for all the prayers and support. It is really appreciated, and you know it really does lighten the load a lot. Em and I have felt a little better all week, not as overwhelmed I guess. One thing I have learned in this very interesting life I lead, is that no problem is insignificant, or marginal. Sometimes I feel that there are so many more with much greater courage and strength to handle adversity than I have and I wonder where they get the strength to handle those problems. Each of us has a cross to bear, for some it may appear light (especially as we get used to it over long periods of time), for others it appears that the load is great, but we all must bear our burdens and when we have prayer and faith in the Lord, our burdens can seem lighter especially when we have Him walking with us (+)
Abby saw Dr. Giberson today. He really is a good ENT guy and I trust him a lot.. as does Em. He feels that given the minimal scoping that can be done without anasthetic and the value of that regime does not warrant doing it. He believes that the full scope workup is the most viable and likely to provide definitive diagnosis of Abby's conditon and he prefers to order that up at IWK in Halifax. However, he is NOT comfortable with the need for a full general anasthetic especially with Abby's history. In children under 6 months, the risk for neurological damage (irreversible) is quite high as it is, but with Abby's history it is more probable. So, he really wants to wait and not risk any more possible damage than she may have already suffered.
This will of course entail a lot more observation, we will have to be very aware of what is happening all the time. It is only for another 2 months I guess, but he believes that with the courses we are on now, that it might be efficacious at this time. Soooo, I guess that is what we will do. We need to make sure that Abby has all the best chances and best choices to be made.
She is in the Lord's hands, He has his plan, be that definitely beyond our ken, so faith will preserve us and we will do as His will requires. The Lord gave us good doctors and nurses, so I guess it is our job to listen to them.
Peace (+)

Re: Abbigail is Home Temporarily
Abby is back in the hospital again. Didn't stay out even 48 hours. She had a seizure -- at least one, she is again in the pediatric ward under observation. Amanda called Em early this afternoon, I wasn't sure what was happening, no one was, Em went up, the next thing I knew Abby was admitted.
