A Year in Review!

As 2009 comes to a close we look forward to a new year of fun with our Cubs. This past year saw many new faces join our group. The membership total has reached a whopping 5,000 members and keeps growing by leaps and bounds. While many of these members join just long enough to get an answer for a problem or to sell/find a Cub or part and never return, we see a lot of new names who stick around to enjoy what we all have to offer. Whether they post one time or many times over does not matter, as long as some thing was gained it means a lot.

Cubfests have continued to increase in popularity and show no sign of letting up. Members in Kansas, Maryland and Louisiana had their first Cubfests and it looked like a lot of fun was had. Many of the existing Cubfests had increased attendance, both by new members as well as longtime members who finally had time to attend. The overwhelming response to these has all been “I can’t wait til next year to do it again”. And next year looks just as good, if not better. Many Cubfests for 2010 have already been added to the calendar and it is filling fast. New Cubfests are in the making with Florida’s Deep South Cubfest getting ready to start off the New Year in February.

We have shared our hardships and joys with each other this year. Illness, death and other catastrophes have struck the families of many members and were always answered with faith and prayer from many. Member’s birthdays and anniversaries, as well as birth announcements of kids and grand kids abounded throughout the forum. These were always answered with a huge congratulatory response. Some Cub owners suddenly found themselves stricken by the well known disease, Cubaccumulitis. That is such a joyful illness that it just can’t slip by without sharing with other’s.

What a year! The help provided by members to others was phenomenal this last year as usual. It is great to know there is a place to find any answer you need to keep your Cub going. Not only are the answers informative, they can become quite humorous when someone tosses in a side joke. We have all learned that you have to be careful how you phrase your question.

The Cub Express made its way all over the country. Small parts, complete Cubs and even refrigerators were part of the ride. The generosity and eagerness of our fellow Cubbers have allowed us to enjoy our hobby without those expensive shipping costs to move our goods. Throw in the opportunity to have a mini-fest and the idea of a Cub Express is even better. A big thanks should go out to all who gave of their precious time.

All in all it has been fun. Whether you were here on the forum or you made it to a Cubfest, you have to admit you had a good time. I, for one, am grateful to have found this site and all of you. I thank each of you for being a part of the fun Rosie and I enjoy

This year can’t end with out a BIG THANKS to the man who makes it all possible. Without the efforts of Dennis this forum would not exist and thousands of friendships may never have been made. Thank you Dennis for providing us with this forum and making it all happen.

Rosie and I haven’t been out on the town for a while so we plan to spend the evening with some friends we haven’t seen in months. In a little while I will go to the barn and wish my Cubs a Happy New Year and give each one a hug and then I will get ready to go.

I would add to your thoughts that it has certainly been my pleasure to meet and talk to a great many of the people on this forum. What a great group of people!!!

Kyle and I are planning on going to several more Cubfests in 2010, of course the Bash is one of them. I look forward to meeting more people in 2010.

A Stranger is a Friend that I have not met yet.

Well wouldn't you know it. I went out to the barn about 7:00 pm and gave all the cubs a hug and I even spent addtional time to give each one a hug for Bigdog as he requested. By the time I came out of the barn I heard fireworks and noise makers all over the place. It seems that I spent so much time in the barn that I missed the arrival of the new year.

Oh well, maybe next year! I'm going to bed.

Bill, very well said my friend! In 2009 our Cubs and this website provided a sound footing for many good times, many new friends, and many new of both!
