As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, a jeep buddy of mine posted this on our site:
"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty."
John F. Kennedy
To all those who have served, to all those who now serve, and to all who have paid the ultimate price to sustain our liberty, we salute you!
Have a safe and enjoyable weekend, and keep those who deliver it in your hearts.
Corky

Memorial Day Salute!
I found this old Cub, Forgotten and Forlorn,
With pistons and valves frozen and worn.
Help from my buddies on Farmallcub.com,
And an engine from Ralph, (37’s the one),
Now ole Corky is running and back to life,
Much to the surprise of my dear, dear wife!

Thanks Charles. We must never forget those who made the supreme sacrifice. The quote you posted is most appropriate coming from a man who suffered a great hardship as he saved his crew after his PT boat was rammed during WWII.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

This is why you will always see a flag flying when you come to DSCF, or just visit me at home for that matter.

You know, that's a super idea. I'm getting a flag tomorrow and up it goes at Pond Creek.

Re: Memorial Day Salute!
Having served in peace time , seems that I did not serve in the same capacity ,This being the first Memorial day since my Dad passed away, I have been doing numerous searches on Battle of the Bulge, since that is where my Dad served.
Just to get a flavor of the area he served. , the pictures of the battles that were waged. The youth of the day , the victories the fears.
I often asked Dad what it was like , when in battle, he said you just remove yourself from the situation and react. It was kill or be killed as simple as that.
My Dad was not a murderer but a Patriot , a Murderer is one who wants his own will for selfish gain and power , A Patriot is one who stand in the gap , between Us and Them !
I found myself going to his grave site straightening up his WW2 flag holder , name plate , as the stone is not there yet . Just remembering him.
I have always thought more about Memorial , after I served , and have always had the greatest respect for all who serve, But hits home more this year!
THANKS DAD.
Phil

Great message, Corky, thanks for posting. Let's hope everyone takes a few minutes to remember those who served, are serving and especially those who never came home.

Re: Memorial Day Salute!
I was one of those in the "kill or be killed" arena. Many of the men that I served with, in Vietnam, gave their lives to preserve our freedom and I think of them often. I took a bullet in the face, but the Lord spared my life, although barely. Please remember those serving our country, in foreign lands, who are removed from their loved ones, as we celebrate this day of rememberance.

Re: Memorial Day Salute!
I am sure that many of my fellow Canadian Veterans are also marking Memorial Day with prayers and thanks for our fellow allies. Thanks to all who gave so selflessly to keep and preserve our freedoms. To all who have relatives who have served in the armed forces Bravo Zulu and may we always remember their sacrifices.

Re: Memorial Day Salute!
Memorial day has always been a hard time for me.My dad got two purple harts, Bronze Star,In Africa, and Bronze Star, in Sicily were he a was hit in the legs and almost lost one Under George Patton.I was in Vietnam in 1968 during the Tet that is why It is a hard time for me all the memories of that time come back.I have never been to the wall and I live very close to It. My son went with his class on field trip and asked if I would go with him I told him no it would hurt to much but I gave him some names and dates that I have been keeping in my hart for over 40 years. When he got back he said dad I found your friends names on the wall.GOD BLESS OUR VETERANS
