Dad is in the Hospital

Postby Former Member » Sat Mar 12, 2011 7:07 pm

Dad went to the hospital on Thursday morning with severe pain in his abdomen and shoulder. (Dad lives in constant pain, he has diabetes, Psoriasis over his whole body, 5 kinds of arthritis associated with his psoriasis.....) They thought he might have a problem with his gall bladder, causing his current pain, and though his is slightly enlarged, it is not plugged and they do not want to remove it. (He has also had an Aortic anurism in the past, that required a stint and valve replacement) So he is also on blood thinners.

Dad visits Dr.s at the VA 2-3 times a month, however the Hospital Dr.s here are very concerned with his health. They indicate that the Dr.s he has been seeing have not had him on a coordinated treatment plan for his many issues.

He has also been having headaches lately. They have been doing a battery of tests, CT scans ect and are keeping him for observation for a few more days.

Dad is 72, and with all his different issues, is nearly immobile, and my Mom is about wore out caring for him. Dad loves to fish, and fights through the pain and normally goes several times a week.

I am continuing on with the cubs, for my sanity, but will be scaling it back, so as to have more time to help him and Mom, and to have time to fish with Dad while I can.

keep us in your prayers.

Dale

Dale, you are right to spend as much time as possible being with your dad and helping him and your mother. I would give all I have away for just one more day with my father. Hang in there and be the best son you can be. The Lord will be with you all. Steve K.
