As some know, my daughter Samantha (she is one of the twins and the one who designed the Cub Pro Avatar) was involved in an accident at work a year ago September. Since that time she has not be independantly mobile .. the first few months up until March she required walking aids from crutches and ultimately to a wheel chair. Since March she has essentially been confined to bed except when Em and I could get her to the hi-lift chair. She was diagnosed with RSD and it has now progressed to CRPS. This is a neurological illness that occurs for many reasons one of which is trauma due to an injury. She was admitted to hospital 3 weeks ago as we can no longer care for her effectively at home and it was very taxing on us as well. Added to that the things that come with a Canadian Maritime Winter, WorkSafeNB determined that it was not safe for her to be transported for appointments such as physio etc., so the move was pretty much non-negotiable.
That is one of the reasons why I haven't been around a lot ... Em and I have been at the hospital 24/7 for the first 2 weeks spelling each other as she requires a lot of care. This past week Em has not had to sleep at the hospital thankfully. Sammy is in a constant pain and the involuntary spasms are lengthy and debilitating to say the least. She is in a lot of pain constantly and cannot get into rehab until the pain is under control. It will be a long process. Unfortunately she has already been told that she will never be able to work in ceramics again which is her major medium so she is pretty bummed about that. She is trying to stay positive but it is difficult. This is a life altering event for her but she is trying hard to stay positive.
It has been a rather difficult the past 17 months - we are hoping that it will improve in time. She is in the Lord's hands and His will, will be done (+). We are praying that He will grant her a good outcome so that she can move on to Stan Cassidy a rehab facility in Fredericton.
