Other Shoe Had To Drop

Postby Rudi » Mon Feb 20, 2012 12:32 am

Seems when you get a handle on things, the other shoe drops. Been dealing with this in my head since Tuesday, and it festers so I gotta get it out. Was in to see my ID specialist for my quarterly checkup, met the new guy this week and as we were getting to know each other he asked us if we had any concerns. Em was quick to pipe up that she was concerned about the lumps at the base of my skull just above the neck. She said they seem to be getting larger and don't feel quite right. Doc had a look at them, poked and probed etc., and then said it was pretty much pretty obvious but he would have to run some more tests.

So I flippantly said, don't tell me it is cancerous. So he said -- Ok, I won't. Whoaaa.. I said. excuse me? What do you mean. He said well it sure feels like the lymph nodes are enlarged and they feel like lymphoma has taken hold. He needs to run a CAT and a biopsy. I was kinda in shock and so was Em. We been trying to bend our heads around this...... Friday got a call, CAT scan is due on Feb 29th. Kinda quick....

It is going to be a long 10 days. Then comes the biopsy I guess. My fingers are crossed but either way, we will beat this, but it is going to take some work I think.

Dang, it doesn't rain.... it is a delulge :(

Rudi, Geesh. Well it will be a long 10 days. First you will remain in our prayers. The word cancer is hard to face, cause we all know what the results can be. But, my forum friend, there are many, many who survive with todays medicines, if, and we say if it is cancer. They have come a long way in treating and there are today many survivors, who would not have been just 10 years back.
Had a good friend who had lymphoma around 2000, and he defeated it.
I know your faith lies in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He can open doors we don't even know exist.
As stated, you will remain in our prayers, as well as your daughter and wife.
May God shed his abundant blessing on you and your family.

Saddened to hear of this turn of circumstances, yet we know Him who holds those things in His hands. Be strong and courageous. Keep it in prayer as you know we will.

Let us know what happens.

I know how you feel on this one. About 12 years ago I had a similar experience. They removed one of several enlarged lymphnodes just below the base of my skull. Thankfully it was nothing to worry about, and all I ended up with was a small spot on the back of my neck that feels like a zipper when you rub across it. I still have lymphnodes that swell up from time to time, and the doctor says that it has to do with things as simple as fighting off a cold. I sure hope yours turns out like mine, and you can go back to worrying about other things.
