Be alert! Wherever you are!!!

Well, I was sitting out on the porch section of my shop relaxing a while ago. Got a call from my daughter in North Carolina and was enjoying a conversation with her. She was asking me some questions that was making me concentrate pretty good, when I caught something out of the corner of my eye. This bad boy was headed straight in my direction and was only about 4 feet away when I spotted him! Had my feet up on a "stump" that I use for an otteman, so I guess he would have traveled right under my legs if I had not seen him. Scared the be-jeepers outta me!! :censored:

Guess it is that time of the year. Y'all keep an eye peeled for these rascals if you are outside.

You better keep your eyes open, where there is one there is always more.

Yikes Mr. Roy!!!! I'm not a big fan of snakes in general, but that looks like an Eastern Diamondback Rattler...right down there with my least-favorite, the Copperhead!

I'm sure glad you saw it before it snuck up on you, and I'm probably gonna avoid that woodpile at the next DSCF just to be safe!

Take care friend,

Corky

If that's an eastern diamondback, I guess I was looking for the rattles, unless Roy has already removed them for a keepsake. Googled Florida snakes and it says the northern Florida rattlers have a more potent venom that those in the southern part of the state.

that was just a baby.

Reminds me of a happening when I was just a young smarta$$ as opposed to being an old one now. My mother told me and my sister we could go out and play in the woods close to the house but to keep an eye out for snakes as this was the time of the year they were crawling. now she meant the weather was warming up and they were coming out to the sun but being an 8 year old smarty, I asked my sister "What do they do the rest of the year? Ride a bike?" I don't remember too much after that. My sister said "that was the hardest she ever hit you". Looking back now, I deserved all of them.
