Received a short, brief letter in the mail yesterday informing me of an up-coming auction. The info was so scant that I assumed my friend was telling me about an auction he and I would both attend. It wasn't until I got to the library last night and looked it up on the internet that I realized it was HIS auction.

I've told some of you about a guy I know in Independence, MO, who would buy small tractors at auctions, fix them up, then store them away in buildings and metal storage containers. Well, this is the guy. I met Jerry Brooks at an auction about 5-6 years ago and have been bumping into him at local auctions ever since. He even sold me a pair of front Cub wheel weights for $25 claiming that he never put weights on his finished tractors 'cause they cause the front wheels to get rusty. :)

Since all the tractors are fixed up, not sure there will be any bargains, but it would be worth it just to see what they sell for. I've got church that morning, but since the tractors don't sell 'til 1:00PM, I'm going to try and make it for that.

Anyway, here's the link: http://www.youngerauction.com/AuctionPa ... sting.html (scroll down and hit link for picture gallery)

If any of you in the KC area are interested in a tractor that's already fixed up, you might attend. You never know what things sell for... :coffee:

I'd be happy to bring any of those tractors home, especially the '79 and SN 573 Cub. Stanton, you better ask your wife for an advance on your allowance. :D

One of them would take care of my allowance for a long time.

I know...I know... Current "allowance" money is being spent on a Farmall H makeover! Timing, man, timing!!

Jerry and I are acquaintances that bump into each other every so often, but I didn't know he had already sold his home and was having this big auction. If I did, I would have made him an offer earlier. Look, if I show up and that '47 Cub is available, I might be in the running, but any of those fixed up tractors (esp the '79) will probably be too rich for my wallet.

We'll see...
