Neat closeable Razor Scraper

Postby Dale Finch » Tue Mar 20, 2018 10:54 am

I went into Advance Auto the other day, and on my way out, saw this folding scraper razor. It was wrapped in plastic, so I couldn't check it out, but was only about $4 or 5, so I bought one. After opening it up there in the store, I turned around and bought a second one. I really like it! I used it last night to scrape the gasket and "gunk" from the PTO I was rebuilding. Worked great, and because it locks open and closed, it's safe enough to keep in my toolbox! :D

Does it store blades in the handle like a utility knife does?

No...start redesigning!!
The best part is that since it isn't the retractable kind, it doesn't collapse on you while using it! You can put a lot of pressure on it.

If you do not have an Advance Auto in your area, you can also get it from Amazon for 9.95. Higher than Advance, but if your order runs over $25 you will get free shipping on items that are not 3rd party items. It comes with plastic blades, but the regular single edge blades will also fit.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Amen to that! I need to get one and throw that metal "collapsible" one away fast!

I do know about razor shearing, actually shearing rust off. I've proposed this method since the '90's because. Because I just couldn't see using heavy wire brushes or abrasives to precise surfaces. Rust release agents allow a sharp blade at varying angles to cut the oxidation off, closer to the root. This allows the intact surfaces as registers and the pitted ones, oil carrying channels.
So I will buy the newer one too. These are very good tools when used proper.
Scrapeing is a different thing with hand (wood) tools. The blade edge is curled and cuts on pull stroke.
