hammer drill

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Thu Jan 31, 2019 12:29 pm

60 or 70 year old cast iron is pretty tough, and I was wondering if anyone has tried using a hammer drill when drilling out the 5/8 implement holes to install Helicoils.

Consider cobalt bits. I purchased a set when I had to drill some heat treated steel. I actually had to pull back on the drill to prevent them just screwing into the material.

Supposed to be good for cast iron too.

I just don't like the thought of hammering on cast iron. I would believe that it might be a little bit brittle. Just my thought.
