With everyone trying to save a buck or two, this simple inexpensive device can save you more than it's cost by telling what all that electronic and electric stuff in your house and shop is costing you. Did you know that even leaving a simple cell phone wall charger plugged in (without the phone) draws electricity?

I have several electric heaters for on the spot instant and location warming (the wife gets cold easy), so I plugged them all into the Kill-A-Watt and was surprised to see the differences in energy draw between the various designs (oil, radiant, quartz, etc.) How much juice does that air compressor draw every time you run it? (Haven't tested mine, yet, but will.)

It's not an everyday tool, but definitely something to keep in the house or shop to help keep a check on your electric bills.

Thanks for posting this, Dennis. I've been looking at this item for a while. Harbor Freight has them for $30, but the newegg.com price beats this by a mile. By the way, the Kill-A-Watt is discussed on page 11 of the March 2009 issue of Consumer Reports, and they liked it.

Same here! I used it on the heat lights for the chicken coup. 50 cents a day is what it came out too.

I just found this little jewl....I might get one....even though my electric bill isn't to bad....here in California it is hot...have A/C set at 75 24/7 biggest bill so far 163.00...My new A/C is a seer 14.

Kill-A-Watt saved son a bunch of money.

Son was thinking his side by side refridgerator and freezer were using to much electricity, the cause of a higher than normal elctricity bill. He was going to buy a new refridg. Talked him into buying a Kill-A-Watt monitor for $24.??. Turns out his side by side is using about 10 cents a day in electricity. In this area 8.? cents per 1000 watts is pretty close to the electricity price per KW.

I tested several of my space heaters with the kill-a-watt to find the most efficient one. Turned out to be one of my quartz heaters; I thought it would be the most expensive to operate... never know until you really test them.

PS: My LCD TV was also very low on electric usage. I don't have a plasma, but I hear they are very high users of power.
