Heartland America - BEWARE

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Wed Dec 17, 2014 2:19 pm

Started out as a reputable company that sold overstocks, factory returns and refurbished items, however, over the last year or so, their practices have become very shady, even to the point of being dishonest. If you look at something and then order it, all is normal, but when you come back and look later it now says refurbished at the end of the description where it did not before. They have also developed a tactic of calling and stating you were overcharged, and asking your permission to do a refund to the original card used to purchase, and saying you can apply that overcharge as partial payment to a buyer's club membership and get better discounts. If you tell them you do not want to join the buyers club they charge it to the card anyway. This is the second time they have tried that. The first time I attributed it to an error, but on 2 orders in a row, I no longer believe it to be an error. As a side note, their prices have risen to the point that most of their refurbished items are as high or higher than the items can be bought new at Amazon, WalMart, etc.

That is them, while they have a good BBB rating and or settling complaints they are always trying to get something added to the account, much like the telco and cell practices of stuffing. I might be in error, but I suspect that in the next year or two that rating will start to go down.
