OK guys, I need a little guidence here

I finally downloaded Irfanview. Now I got the picture down to 80x80 pixels, but when I submit it it comes back "file size needs to be no bigger than 6 KB. When I tried to resize for 6KB, I couldn't find that option. All I see is size in pixels.

Ok, so what am I doing wrong? :x Please explain like you are talking to a 6 year old. I don't understand this computer stuff. Thanks, Doug N

Doug, in a way, there are "Two" size's when talking in regards to a picture.

There is the number of "pixels" being utilized as well as the file size. Both can be dependent upon each other due to contrast, color usage, etc. which will effect the file size. Less colors/pixels will bring down the overall file size, but the picture quality suffers.

If you are able to re-size the picture to the right amount of pixels, you need to look at the file size of the picture as well by looking at the file properties.

If it's above 6KB, you need to "resize" it again, but just until you get it within the limitations of 6KB.

IrfanView has a resizing option, just "tweak" the size a little until you get it right.

Hope this helps? If not, you can email it to me, and I'll take a crack at it for you?
Mike Duncan

Doug:

In IrfanView it is very simple. Resize to 64x64 pixels which will actually end up being 60x64 or 64x60 etc.... then it will fit.

Thanks Into Tractors and Rudi. Donny M offered so I sent it to him and he had no luck. I have AOL and Donny said when I send it to him AOL puts their own address on it, :x so he can't do much with it. He also gave me his number so I called him to walk me thru it. While we were doing this he explained to me about the two sizes a picture has, like you said into tracors. Donny is one heck of a nice guy :D Thanks for your help Donny.

Rudi, I did try that, I even went as small as 50x50 and it still said it was bigger than 6KB. Donny told me that I have a high image camara. I had it set on "5MP best", so what I did was knock it down to 3MP. I'll take some pics and see if that helped.

Into Tractors, I'll send it to you if you want. According to Donny I think it was better as an attatchment, so I'll do that. Thanks for your offer. Doug N

Send me the pic -- original if you have it. I will bring it down to an avatar size for you..

AOL is a huge PITA.. but it will work. Attach it as a file and send. But not within a .png or especially a .eml.

I can have it back to you probably tonight.. as I am in the house today.

Doug:

No Problem, just glad I could help. I like to experiment with a lot of stuff... which probably explains my facination with Cubs..

Glad it worked out and you can now use it.

Cheers
