Not receiving email alerts

Postby spaceghost » Sun Jun 28, 2009 7:42 pm

I am not receiving email alerts for private messages or active posts that I have posted to. My email address is correct in the control panel and I have the options checked for receiving email alerts.

Thanks

I've been in the same boat since mid May.

I have the same problem. I found that they were all going to my Spam folder. There is a way to filter them I just have not figured it out yet.

You all need to have farmallcub.com in your "white list" or whatever your security software calls it.

I have added it to my allowed lists and checked to make sure it isn't on any blocked lists and it still doesn't work. I am curious how many others have this problem.

I still receive e-mails from Dennis that are sent from his farmallcub.com accounts as well as those from cub pro and moderator e-mail groups but I stopped getting the board generated e-mail notices at about the same time several others did. Everything was working fine and then one day I subscribed to a topic so I would get an e-mail if any replies were posted. At that time all e-mails generated by the board software stopped coming in to me. I still don't get them.

I've looked at this problem more than once. From the host side, I see no problems and messages are being sent -- I still get them and I know others do as well.

My guess is that a spam blocker on your email account is blocking the messages before they get to your email program.

What email hosts are having this problem, Road Runner, Comcast, AT&T, etc... we might find something in common related to this non-delivery. Anyone tried Yahoo, MSN, or Gmail and have this problem?

Guys:

Suggest getting a gmail account. Aside from the benefits of being able to recieve the notices (and you should), there are advantages to gmail that I never thought possible. The amount of material you can email via gmail is unreal. Bob sends me emails with like 20 pages to 30 scanned jpegs per email.. and it is just amazing.

Hotmail has always been dicey. I do not find it secure at all and that means too many bugs too many backdoors. So I never use it except for my MSN or Windows Live account that be about it. For all others I use my ISP but rogers seems to be pretty good -- they use Yahoo Mail as their email client.
Yahoo has always been 100% on the farmallcub.com stuff.

Hope that helps.

I was having trouble getting the email alerts and this is what I found...

My provider is AT&T who uses Yahoo mail. I don't like webmail but a while back, AT&T sent a message that they were going to be using Yahoo WebMail mail. About the end of September, I noticed that I wasn't getting as many emails as before. I decided to look at this webmail thing even though I was using Outlook and also Windows Mail. When I finally got to the new, improved AT&T/Yahoo webmail page, I had 311 emails in the Spam folder there. Not on my junk/spam folder in Outlook but in the webmail junk folder! It seems they had taken it upon themselves to initiate spam control for me... :(

After I disabled the Spam filter there, I used Outlook to recieve the 311 emails with quite a few from farmallcub.com. Hopefully this will solve my problem of missing emails. I will go back every so often to check and see if they enabled it again without letting me know about it.

I'm not saying this is the problem everybody is having but this is what was causing me not to get all of my emails.

Probably if you use WebMail you would adjust your spam filter to allow the emails. Since I didn't have a clue that they had a spam filter ahead of my email client, I didn't see them in the Outlook spam/junk folder to make the adjustment. (Hopefully, that makes sense! :!: )

John:

I was not a fan of webmail either, I much preferred outlook express. However, things changed once I started to experiment with my rogers yahoo mail client. I now use my webmail account to actually filter my mail and yahoo excells at that once you train it/set up your own filters. I have a farmallcub.com filter which takes any email from farmallcub.com and places it in the farmallcub folder. That way it isn't in the main box nor does it get tossed into the spam folder. I filter much of my mail this way and I have about a dozen or more individual filters. I also do not download anything to my email cllient on the computer until it has been vetted through my yahoo account. This applies also to my gmail account. Everything stays on the web until I decide I want that particular email to be saved. This sure has reduced the amount of time to fetch mail and definitely has almost totally eliminated spam/junk/viruses/trojans and other undesireable junk from cluttering up me puter.
