Folks,
I need some help. Here is the situation: -purchased a new computer -automatic login does not work -each time I login, I have to type my user name -a drop-down menu appears with my name and I select it -my password automatically fills in after selecting my user name -I check the box for automatically filling in those fields for each time I visit -those fields do not fill the next time I visit
What's up? Any help will be appreciated.

Bill - do you log out when leaving the forum? If you do, then what you describe is normal. If you exit the forum without logging out you should automatically be logged in when you return. If you do not log out when leaving the forum and still have to log in on the next visit............... it's broke.....

Darrell,
On my prior computer, when I filled out the login fields and checked the "remember me" box, those fields remained filled in. After logging out, those fields were still filled in when I logged in on a return vist. One click and I was ready to roll. Now, each time I visit the forum, I have to fill in the fields as I described. Sure is a pain.

I just go to the address box top of the page, type F and then click the newposts drop down and am logged in and at new posts. I never log out of the forum. Bill

It is still working fine for me.
What browser are you using? Internet Explorer, I'm guessing. What version?

It sounds like one of the following is happening:
a. Your browser is clearing the cookies when it is closed. Some browsers have an privacy option that clears ALL browsing history from you session. b. The FarmallCub.Com cookie is corrupted. Click on the link at the very bottom right side of the forum "Delete all board cookies" and log out and back in to create a new cookie file. c. Somehow, your logging out of the forum when exiting. To use the permanent login, you only need to close your browser window. d. Another program is cleaning out your browser history and cookies. Programs like ccCleaner will do exactly this if you DON'T tell it NOT TO (default is to clear them out.)
Try another browser on the same computer, if possible to eliminate a browser issue.
Any of the above happening to you?

To my knowledge, I don't have anything like this.

Dennis Dennis,
Thanks for the help.

While we have been doing the server update we have found that IE 6 and IE 7 are really having difficulties lately. 7 is buggy, 6 is old but still pretty stable but having problems with the new code. IE 8 is an improvement but not the answer entirely. If you download IE 8 the next time you do Microsoft Update or auto updates load, that may fix some problems. I am using more FireFox and a couple other browsers now. IE is becoming a royal PITA... not worth the hassle. I am beginning to become partial to Google's Chrome.. neat little browser without all the artsyfartsy bells and whistles.. just stability. I like that.

Rudi, I, too, have been using Chrome for a while now. I like it. I like best that it runs well on my tragically old laptop. I was turned off at first by its lack of user-customizable options, but I've grown to like how well it runs far more.
