power point problems

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Thu Jun 17, 2010 8:42 am

I have 2 monitors connected to my computer, with the 2nd one being a smaller older one that the colors are not very good on that I only use for the chat room. I have a problem that anytime I receive a Power Point presentation, it always opens on the 2nd monitor. The only way I can make it open on the first monitor is to reboot the computer with the 2nd monitor turned off, and then open the power point. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? operating system is Windows XP media version.

John,
Open PP on the old monitor. Then drag the window to the other monitor. Shut down PP. If it works as it "should" when you next open PP it should come up on the new monitor.

I cannot figure out how to drag it. All I get is the picture as if it were in a presentation, it is not showing in a window I can resize, etc.

John,
With PowerPoint open, at the top-right corner of your screen, do you have an icon that looks like this?

If so, you are in "full screen mode". Simply click the middle icon, and you will be in "window" mode. Then you should be able to resize, drag, etc.

Let me know.

John,
Kinda hard to diagnose without seeing it in person. Could be a resolution issue. You can try the tip below??

adjust your screen resolution. In XP right click on your desktop, properties, display and choose a different resolution. In Vista - control panel, appearance & personalization, personalization, adjust screen resolution. Just keep on trying different resolutions until you find the right one, cause i don't know your monitor size so can't tell you exactly which one.
Good luck ;-)

John:

When you are on the second screen - hit the esc key on your keyboard - if you are in full screen mode it should return it to normal. As far as dual screen ops go -- I have no clue as I don't use it.. I should, I have enough of em.. but I don't... not enough energy I guess

This will probably fall under the "boy was that a stupid idea" category, but what would happen if you swapped the monitor cables where they plug into the CPU?

not that simple, the ports are set for the resolution of the specific monitors, also which is primary, etc.
