Go to Device Manager, Look at your Network Adapters, click on whichever is your default then check the resources tab. Check for conflicts. If you have a conflict which you probably do ... you will have to run the diagnostics to see what solution Windows comes up with. Sounds like your your network adapter is conflicting with the port card you just installed ... edit:
Re-look into this stuff and you will probably be able to resolve the conflict. Confusion breeds Discussion which breeds Knowledge which breeds Confidence which breeds Friendship

Re: logging into chatsorry I took so long to reply, but it says no conflicts. I did get into it once this afternoon, but when I came back later and tried I could not. Running win 7 PRO

That is real strange. Funny, my daughter says she likes Windows 7 is better than XP. Maybe, but the teething problems seem to be much worse than those for XP. Confusion breeds Discussion which breeds Knowledge which breeds Confidence which breeds Friendship

Re: logging into chatI have tired that also, and it does not help. Rudi, Win 7 has been out a couple of years, so should not have many teething problems. i do remember Win 95 when it first came out, and it had some real problems of totally unrelated things causing problems with each other, but once they were solved it turned into a good system. Re: logging into chatHey John sounds like a network routing problem. Over in the Holler we go down to the telephone pole at north end of drive with a set of pruning shears cut 3 grape vines loose bout size of a pencil and twist the upper ends tight. Avoid the poison ivy vines they serve as the static regulation circut. If that dont solve it i just get in the truck n hit the road n let Scrivet figure it out

Re: logging into chatI have had the computer for 2 weeks and have spent the entire time trying to solve problems, haven't even had time to install most of my programs. I am on my laptop now, the pc has been returned to original setup, and is in box to go back to dealer tomorrow.

Re: logging into chatDon't know for certain, but my issue is similar.
I don't have internet from home, so use it at the office. Last summer for about 3 weeks, I just couldn't log on. I asked our IT guy to see if anyone blocked the site or something, but nothing. Then, one day, it came back. Now, it has happened again. It's been 2+ weeks w/o this site and I'm going into withdraws!! Hope it returns soon...I enjoy the site too much. Stanton

Re: logging into chat
Stanton, I was wondering what happened to you because I had not seen you on the site much lately... sorry to hear about your computer problems and I'm not sure what would cause the connection problems from work. From my experience, most businesses use firewalls and proxy servers to access outside of their intranet, so filters blocking sites, DNS entries, etc., can cause problems like yours. Try this link from work sometime: http://204.197.240.106/~farmallc/dcms/index.php That will bypass any DNS (directory name server's) and go straight to the site. We just need to get the phone company busy and install DSL in your area. Who is your phone company? I have CenturyLink here and we just got our DSL about a year ago -- after 12 years of waiting and using other means to access the internet. There is a wireless company that is out of Pleasant Hill (http://www.kcweb.net/wireless/) that might serve your area. They are a little pricey, but that is generally what I've found in rural areas, the choice is limited and the price is high. "Time makes more converts than reason."
