Login Question

Postby Bill Hudson » Tue Jun 11, 2013 9:49 am

Whether using Google Chrome or Explorer 10, I have to type my name and password each time I log on to the site. Checking the little box to recognize me each time I login does not work for me. It used to work. Wazup?

Bill:

Corrupt cookies. Clear all the board cookies at the bottom of the page, then clear all your cookies/history in Chrome and IE. Should work fine after that. Sometimes lately the same thing is happening to me in Opera as well.

The only good cookie is a Miss Janet cookie!
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

IE10 has been a major PIA. I support computers for a living so I know your pain. Microsoft (in thier infinite wisdom) dumped the upgrade in with the automatic updates without telling you....so you get it wether you want it or not. Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features. Select "View Installed Updates" at the top left. Scroll down the list until you find Windows Explorer 10. Double click on it to unistall. Just follow the prompts. It will require a restart. This will put you back to IE9 and everything will work again.

This is for windows 7 or 8 only. IE10 will not run on XP.

Bill, it sounds like something is "eating" your cookies. Possibly your anti-virus/firewall, or browser setting to delete all history and cookies on exit?
In Chrome, go to settings, click "show advanced settings" (bottom of screen), under "privacy" click "content settings", under "cookies" click the "all cookies and site data" button. Then in the search box, type "farmall" and press enter. You should see the cookies for the site -- you can manually remove them by clicking the "x" next to them and let the site recreate them.
If they are not there, something is blocking (eating) them.

Opera will delete cookies automatically on closing unless I tell it not to. So for the sites I visit a lot -- this one mainly and the server, the cookies remain stored. All others auto clear. I don't think about it much.

I am not a fan a many of these upgrades. gmail's latest new and improved comp box is on the list of the worst ever. Win8 I am not even going to touch .. I don't even like Win7. They are dumbing down to the lowest common denominator and taking away a lot of flexibility that advanced users used to have which makes it very difficult to troubleshoot/fix errors.

I guess Microsoft wants only certified Microsoft Software Techs ... they get paid for the exams .. :big give up:

Oh... btw.. WHAT browser are YOU using Bill :?: :?: :?:

Thank you folks for all your help. I tried everything and I still have to type in the necessary information to login. :( :( Small inconvenience when compared to the big payoff from the knowledge shared on this forum. :D :D
