Dan,

That is a real shame that companies still do this type of malicious activity. Check this for instructions on how to remove it: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2421591,00.asp

It is not a simple task, so if you are not up to it, have a friend help or the local kid guru help you.

Dennis gave you the how to get rid of, and to keep from getting it or anything else you do not want, be very careful when you download something, even a link from a legitimate site. Many have the acceptance built in and prechecked, which you have to UNcheck before downloading the wanted information.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

All the fixes I have read say the same thing. Go to the control panel then uninstall a program. Problem is Ask is not listed in programs. I have deleted every program that I did not recognize. Ask is still there.

Probably should be cautious about deleting programs you don't recognize. Next thing you know you've deleted an essential one. Know a teenager that uses computers? Get to be his or her friend! :-)

This is what I use when infected.

I have no affiliation with this company or software, but have used their product.

Dan, even if you delete the program, it may still appear as your web browser home page. Not certain what web browser you use, but if it is IE, you would go to "Tools", then "Internet Options" and then if ASK.com is selected as your home page, change it.
