The Weatherman did it agin...

It started snowing about 5pm today. Alde and I got a much of the strapping done, 16 feet of 2x6 ladders on the East Gable (above the door) and 240 square feet of sheathing on the roof before the snow hit. My nephew came over and lifted about 400 or so square feet of sheathing onto the roof.. to add to the 150 or so we already had lifted manually. Those 4'x10' sheets are awkward.  :!: Add new fallen snow to the mix and you have a problem.. so we shut her down for today.

So far we have at least 4 inches down.. and about twice that expected. Gonna be interesting. Will try to take more pics in the morning..

Someone asked for pics at one point, so here are some of what we woke up to this morning. Anyone from south of the Mason Dixon wanna come visit :?: :big smile:

You can see Granny covered with the Blue tarp and Ellie off to the left.. her Flashing Amber Light is visible although most of her is covered in a white blanket  8) What is left of Jethro is in front of the shop along the North Wall.

Image

At the head of the driveway there is a 3 foot drift and Image, we ain't getting through that. Even Ellie probably can't cope with 3 feet. Course, I guess the blade would have to be on huh :?: :?: :?:

I love winter, especially when I am prepared for it. This year, I am a little behind the 8 ball.

Hey Rudi, beautiful pictures, especially when seen from afar. I don't envy you with all that snow, pretty falling and all but so, so, messy before it's all over. Good luck with the Cub House, if you will bring it down here we will have it done in a couple of days. Supposed to be in the mid 70's here this weekend, we could use the snow for water but we'll just continue to pray for rain :!: , Pete

Oh boy, i aint seen snow like that since my days in Anchorage. Makes me envious. Sure wished we'd get one or two like that here every year. Calling for 1-2 inches today. Probalby just get a powder.

Rudi,

I live south of the Mason-Dixon Line (although we fought for the Union). Here's a picture of my place this morning, with 2 to 4 more forecast by tomorrow.

Don:

We need more pics of your place. Very nice.. really nice.... :big smile:

John, this is just a little bit of snow. We will get a lot more. In some years we have had 5 foot snowfalls..

Pete, yup it is pretty, but it really is no big deal. Those from away think it is a bigger problem than it really is, but... removing snow is more fun than anything else. Even pro plow drivers enjoy it..

Don, Nice pics. We didn't get any snow here.

Rudi, Kinda makes me wish I was still hauling boats and was on my way to the dealer in Moncton right near the airport. Kinda miss those days. Grump
By the way Rudi, When I was up there the snow was pushed up along the road high enough that I could'nt see over the top of em in a cabover

Grump..

If you were going to the dealer by the airport, you passed right by my house on Route 132.. or Champlain Street. We are 600 yds thereabouts from the end of the main runway.. 29L I think it is.

And yup, the first year I came down to spend Christmas with Em and her parents.. we got an 8 foot dump in 32 hours... spent 3 days digging out my car.. and got charged for being 3 days AWOL... I love the Maritimes   8)

Rudi,

Granny sure looks like a Demonstrator to me with that fine covering of white like that... Looks good on her....

Hope you get a chance to play in the snow soon... We are supposed to get 4-6 inches in the next 24 hours... This is really early for this kind of snowfall...

Mike:

Looking outside my window and checking the calendar -- I am really beginning to wonder what Al meant by the threat of Global Warming??? Environment Canada has already issued a Winter Weather Alert for ALL of the country, that this will be the coldest, longest and snowiest winter in about 3 decades.. for the Maritimes the worst since 1992.

I likes it :big smile: A lot !!!
