Model Lobster Boat

We have a family friend that lives in Bass Harbor, Maine that I have known for most of my life his name is Mike Gilley. When I first met him he was just another lobsterman in Maine just trying to make a living. When my family would visit our cabin in Surry, Maine in the summer Mike would always take me and my Dad out for a day of lobstering on his boat that he and his Dad had built mostly themselves. It was great fun - and of course that nights meal was yummy! Well years went by and Mike and his wife decided to start running a restaurant called "Thurstons Lobster Pound" in Bernard, Maine he liked it so much and did so well years later he bought an old closed down restaurant in Southwest Harbor, Maine that is now called "Gilley's Head of the Harbor Restaurant".
A few years after he had opened Gilley's (and we had eaten there many times) I was grown-up and had become a hobby woodworker, so I decided to make him a scale model of this boat that was so much a part of his life and mine - to sort of thank him for the great memories he made for me. Here are some pictures of it as I was finishing it up. Also it is displayed in Gilley's restaurant in a glass case. I really had a great time building this model boat - and it had great meaning to me to build it for him.
