3 for one combo: carry-all, drawbar, and boom pole

Got a project that you are working on that is not a tractor? Maybe a barn to hold your tractors or just fun stuff like woodworking, glass, tools, sheds, gardens, custom implements, etc., this is the place to talk about it.

3 for one combo: carry-all, drawbar, and boom pole

Postby DRShahan » Sun Feb 07, 2016 5:23 pm

Hi all,
Just wanted to share a handy new 3 point hitch attachment I'm rigging up. It's essentially a carry-all, but the forks are hinged. This lets them flip up and out of they way, allowing the lower member to serve as a draw-bar. I'm just planning to drill holes, but a receiver hitch could easily be welded in if desired. I also plan to make a top link out of a square tube where a simple boom pole can be inserted. I used some steel that was laying around, but this could be made from just about anything. This might not totally replace each of the other implements, but it'll do a lot and will save having to change them around nearly as much.

Essentially a carry-all

Forks folded up. I still need to make a simple latch to hold them in place.

Detail picture of the joint. The horizontal channel runs under the vertical one so that the hinge doesn't take any load. The gussets down either side keep it from shifting side to side. A pin could replace the hinge pretty easily.

Does the trick!

And here's something similar to what I'll use for the boom pole.

Boom pole is operational! Still need to drill a few holes and weld in some loops for lift points, but I think this'll do nicely.
