Maryland Cubfest

Postby Lt.Mike » Sun Jan 06, 2019 7:21 pm

That’s a tease isn’t it? Sorry.
Thought I’d throw it out there to possibly plant a seed. It’s no small thing to be a host of a Cubfest and those that do deserve a lot of praise.
Suggesting someone start one is a bit much but I can’t help it.
When picking up my last Cub in Maryland a couple things struck me. It’s a beautiful state having both ample farmland and coastal communities. So tractors abound there and if you like seafood there’s none better. There are a bunch of members that hail from Maryland and it’s within reach of several tractor/forum heavy states. Obviously I would love to attend a Cubfest there.
So... why hasn’t one materialized there yet?
Like I said, I’m just hoping to plant a seed.

This was listed in the 2011 CubFest calendar.
Black Eyed Susan Cubfest: June 18th - 19th, 2011 - Freeland, Maryland
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Too bad it didn’t last. I may look back to see if any old posts still exist on it to see what the turn out was.

Lt.Mike,
I went one year with my oldest son. He bought a lightly used 48" Scag Mower from a dealer in the area. We only stayed a few hours - round trip from CT to MD to CT in one day precluded an extended visit. Good turnout of guys from PA, MD, and VA. Lasted a few years as I recall. LurkerCarl, Berlin, Daddydip, DonMcCombs, and several others. Carm was the host. Looks like he was last on the forum in May 2018.
Great location out in the country.

Why not host one? Just throw it out there and see who would be interested. I did that in 2008 and had 25 people show up. The following year there were over 60 people. It has been that way ever since.

Were kinda out in left field here. If you put pins in a map for members we’d probably be on the fringe. I might have room for a small one, I’ll have to mull that over.
Back to the map, do we have anything like that showing member distribution at a glance?

Be aware that a lot of the pins on the map are inactive members.

Yes I just found that out but... there is / was a lot more interest in my area than I was aware of. I’ll be looking over that list a little more and reaching out.
