Upper Midwest Cheesy Cubfest Discussion

Postby Hengy » Mon Mar 12, 2012 9:21 am

To all of the Upper Midwest Cubbers...

The Upper Midwest Cubfest is in jeopardy this year. With my pending move (see this thread) I am just not going to have the time available to plan or facilitate this year's fest at Liethen Ridge. I really was hoping for a "last hurrah" for the fest, but the truth is that my cubs may well be on their way east at that point. (a friend and I are going to haul them on his trailer ahead of the family)

Is there any interest from others in the Upper Midwest to carry the torch either at Brian's land (I can facilitate with him) or at some other location in Wisconsin or Minnesota? I have had an immensely awesome time helping host this fest, and the friendships that I kindled at the fest have been spectacular. If not, I will have to say that the fest is off for this year. I really hope that someone does step up to continue the gathering someplace!!

Thanks all for a great time... I hope to see all of my upper midwest friends at a cubfest elsewhere!!!

Mike, just so it's out here in the public area, as I said in my PM to you. I'm not interested in organizing a Fest. I don't mind helping my fellow Cubers but organizing gets to close to being work.

Thought I'd bring this to the top.

It looks like no one else is even interested enough to say they're not interested in organizing the Fest.

So Mike, maybe we should just meet up on the ridge one day and tip back a couple cold ones and chomp on some brats.

Mark, that sounds like a really good idea. I am game if you are. My tractors are going to be on their way to Pittsburgh soon, so I am not going to be able to bring a tractor, so tipping a couple and chomping brats sounds good to me...

Thanks for bringing it to the top, but I thought that the Cheesy Fest would make a whimpering exit instead of a bang, unfortunately...

Sounds like a plan Mike. What do you think, keep it on the scheduled Cheesy Fest Saturday? I assume that the Fest is all but officially cancelled, especially seeing those that are usually involved haven't made any posts on the subject.

I presume Brian would be happy to oblige a get together, even if we don't get any work done. The big question though, are their others that would come? I guess if not it just means more beer and brats for those of us that are there.

It's obviously been WAY too long since cruising the forum as I'm seeing this just now for the first time.

Congrats Mike, although I'm sorry to here about the cancelled Cheesy Fest for this year.
