I don't have a pic handy, but it is definately not a Zenith or a Marvel-Shrebler. It has a cast iron upper half. That would make it a UT 733S, the number could be the number for the body--it doesn't show the number for just that part in the Super A parts book.

I am trying to remember your carb from your earlier pics. I was thinking it looked more like a Zenith.

Never mind--it's def. a Carter! Looks just like mine and I see you have a number on it in the same spot as mine.
Al

Mine has an aluminum upper half. I called Clapp Brothers and they told me they only keep one of the two kits in stock because of the rarity of the second one. So my next question is do our carburetors take the same kit or is one of ours the rare one? :( :?:

Dale,

I need to get on other sections of the forum more often, and on the forum period. Just came across this. Unfortunately I cannot make it, but I'll see you in about a months time down at DScubfest.

Got my Super A-1 transported and ready for Saturday! :D Thanks Dale!

So we also made it to Clapp Brothers. I found out my carb is the rare one... (No kit)... which is good news for Al...
I picked up the gaskets for it anyhow.

Also, we discovered something surprising and not in the good way. A sign on the wall at Clapp Brothers stated they were closed on Saturday during the winter months! No mention of such thing on the website...

See y'all Saturday!

Al, on the off chance that the kit that Clapp Bros DID have would fit your carb, I picked up one for you. If you do not want it, they will take it back.

Tommorrow William (the shop owner) and I will be clearing out space in the shop for us to work. Then I head to the farm to get my 2 cubs and all the hardware, parts and tools, etc!! See you all Saturday! :D

Dale,

Does the carb kit you picked up for Al look similar to this one?

http://www.steinertractor.com/ABC231-basic-carburetor-repair-kit-carter

The gasket I bought today looks amazingly like the one in this kit:

Of course, it's a little too late for Saturday...

I left the kit at the shop, but it sure looks like it...

We can clean your carb up, and put it back together with the gaskets you got. Maybe we can get more info on it after we remove it, and perhaps the Steiner Kit #1387 is the correct one. At least the tractor is running now, so you can do a better rebuild later if needed and the kit works.

Thanks, Dale! We'll look at it and if it looks like it'll work I'll go with it.

I should mention I have never overhauled a carb before so I will definately need some help....

I picked up two cans of carb cleaner, can of engine de-greaser, can of liquid wrench, some paper shop towels, and a big jug of purple power.

Old Ugly is loaded and ready. I think I have remembered everything BUT a 21/32 drill bit. Is there a hardware store close by that we can grab one if needed?

see everyone tomorrow.....
