Barnyard Bash Projects

Postby Barnyard » Wed Apr 27, 2016 8:31 am

The Bash will be upon us very soon. Let us know what projects we can expect. Last year we had the shop busy both days. I'd like to see that place buzzing again. :D

I am planning on bringing a hydraulic pump for a rebuild and I would like to free up a sticky governor arm on my 74 cub.

It will take longer than that for Steve and I to catch up on things.

Yeah, it was fun this week as we were standing around eating doughnuts, drinking coffee and watching Steve work on my cubs.

I'd really appreciate help with some basics like replacing the points and condenser, checking the timing, and adjusting the valves.
And since i've not yet done it, I know that I really need to check/service the fan hub.
I don't know how much time we would have, but I need to replace the seals in my final drives, too.
Anything I can learn and/or do would be awesome!
Looking forward to it.

I plan on bringing the '57 that I picked up last Spring. I got it running but that's about all I did with it. I want to get it rewired and rebuild the touch control, put a new fuel line on it, basically just go over the whole thing. Also, the bottom screws for the dog legs broke off in the bolster. I believe some of you have experience fixing that, so maybe we can tackle that too. Just want to get it in working shape so I can put it to use.

Can't wait!
Clint

Bill last I talked to Stalkcutter, he was planning to bring one of his cubs. Has the threads stripped out of one of the implement bolt holes on the torque tube. Believe he wanted us to look it over to see if there were other things that needed to be worked on. Haven't heard from him since our Tractor Club meeting this month but at least that was the plan! Stalkcutter (Bill) did I get this right?

Yep, Steve is correct, I have a stripped out equipment hole in the torque tube. I purchased a 5/8-11 Helicoil kit from McMaster Carr and will bring it to the Bash. Do I need to bring a drill?
I also need help determining if the cub is charging or not. Electrics is not my strong point and maybe someone at the Bash can do the proper test to figure it out.

Thanks Barnyard!

I have the drill you need to use. There will also be a couple of electrical pros on hand also.
