Plowing w/Gravely

My first attempt at plowing with the Gravely. It seems no matter what method of plowing I've tried I know that plowing in any form is an art form and takes experience to learn. The Gravely is certainly no exception.

that isn't all that bad, you should have seen what the David Bradely and I did

The electric start on a gravely uses a bicycle type chain from the starter to the engine.
At least the one I gave to Lurker Carl does. It was very interesting way to do business.

Hey Bill...REAL NICE JOB! Reminds me of my real younger days with our old 1956 Model L Gravely and the rotary plow...draggin' young Country through the garden!
I think if you LOWER your rotary plow more you'll throw up a better bed. By the way...Did you remove the deflector plate from your rotary plow, or did your plow not come with it. It can make a NICE finish look to your plowed bed!

It all started as just lets see how this thing works because I had an alternate use for the plow. I don't have the dirt shield so I decided to wing it. Where that pic was taken I wasn't actually plowing yet. I did lower the plow after I set the camera down and resumed. That side of the plot was for some reason plowing a little shallow but the other side got so deep that it high centered the tractor. Nevertheless it was a great learning experience. I think that garden plot is a little large for that machine to be practical. It took me a couple of days to finish. Your only plowing about 6" at a pass. The book says up to 10" but I don't see how. Now it did grind it up finer than humming bird sh----. However I got some areas that are really humped and some not so humped. It wasn't very even all over. But what heck that was my first try. My 7' tiller will strighten it all up in the spring.
