You always see a lot of Fordsons in UK show pics, and they seem to be well liked there, as opposed to here, where they are thought of as "poor cousins" among the show people.

In my area, we have a few tractor shows which have displays of the Fordson. They supposedly all were used for farming in this region at one time.

I was talking to a farmer about the use of the tractor and he informed me the tractor was manufactured and used in Europe during WWII, which was after the Ford “N” was being manufactured here. Maybe the reason was because of the feud Ford and Ferguson had going on at that time?

What I do know about the Fordson is the front wheels almost bouncing off the ground when the tractor is in place and the engine RPM’s just above idle because of the “long stroke" engine.

I found a couple of the tractors very interesting. The Fordson 4000 with the tracks and a Bean implement tractor.

I remeber Dad talking about Grandpa's old Fordson he used to have. Grandpa would go out first thing in the morning and crank it until he was so tired he couldn't crank it anymore and would go back to the house for a cup of coffee. After resting a few minutes he would go back out and it would start on the first pull. Dad said more thna once Granpa had said that if he had a stick of dynamite he would blow it inot the next county. LOL

When i was in my teens we had a neighbor that had a Fordson Major diesel. I really like it, but it woudn't start below 20 degrees. (no glow plugs).
