Ford Thornton

Postby W6NZ » Fri Feb 10, 2006 3:35 pm

I was given a book to read on Willow flat, a back country farming area around 2hours drive from where I now live, in the 40's 50's it was known for the logging and milling of the native bush, and some huge 'stick's came out of there. On a couple of the pages here was this photo of my late uncle and his Ford Thornton, an image can be seen of him behind the wheel. I was over the moon as being a youngster at the time I knew very little of his life in the bush.
I remember him as a great axe man at the A&P shows, and was a N.Z. indoor cycling record holder as was his brother , my Dad. They both died at an early age so it was a thrill to see the photos, a real blast from the past.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that!

W6, Now that's a fairly good sized "stick". But just look at this monster! I guess that's the difference between a Ford and a Chevy. (Ignore the jack in the pic. For ornamental purposes only)

Just joking. Fantastic pic. You should be very proud of your heritage. Too bad you didn't have your father or uncle for a longer period of time. I was much more fortunate.

Larry, enjoyed your pic and posting. You won't get any argument from me where Chevy and Ford are concerned, I will acknowledge that the Ford Thornton, for its time, was a mighty truck. There weren't too many brought into the country.
the stick looks a bit dozey, tho.
