Carm, that looks so good! would love to have one!
What is the engine in it, the oil filler cap looks suspiciously like a cub cap?
Looking at the top of the engine, it looks like there are 6 sparkplugs, sp perhaps it's a 6 cylinder?
BUT what are the other plugs closer to the camera?
Is the coolant circulatory pump hydraulic drive?
I am sure you are going to have some good fun with it, best wishes
Pat

I still need to learn alot about it. I think the mileage is around 80,000 but I will have to check. The units in the background were derelict before I got there! But I think there is still hope for them

Nice one Carm being a full time firfighter I would love to have a vintage fire apperatus but due to storage issues I will have to settle with just dreaming. I have seen afew trucks stripped of the fire bed and converted to a tractor hauler. Steve

Awesome Carm. I likes it :!:

I know I see the distrubuter. But is it gas or diesel :?: Is that two spark plugs per cylinder one plug one injector. Starts up on gas and swiches over to diesel like some old equipment :?: I know you said it was a mack and all the macks I know of are diesel. Anyways very cool :!:

Carm, am I correct in assuming that is a 6 cylinder engine with 2 plugs per cylinder and dual distributors? I know some of the old emergency apparatus had that setup for added dependability, but had never seen one in person.

Hey Carm...Ya got yourself a classic 1945 Mack Pumper Truck there! It looks to be in GREAT condition, inspite of its age and 80,000 miles! :D It's a lot like the 1947 Mack pumper my Dad drove when he was Chief of our local fire Dept. in the late 1940's-early 50's! :D

You'll have FUN drivin' your Mack in parades...I'm sure there's a Vintage Fire Engine Club in your area, and they'll be able to give you plenty of restoration help!

Just imagine how many emergencies your pumper has been on since it was NEW 61 years ago...how shiny it must have been in countless local Fourth of July and Labor Day parades with its company of marching volunteer firefighters over the years...If it could only talk!!!

ENJOY A REAL UNIQUE PIECE OF HISTORY!
